One of the first news articles about
Diane Cordial’s baking appeared in 1969.
A portion of the article follows:

A registered nurse, she finds time to do some private duty nursing in addition to looking after her three daughters, Marilyn, six, Cathy, four, Carolyn, two and her husband who manages the Big Bear Farm in Powell.  Her entries are mainly breads, cookies, pies and rolls.  For the past four years, Mrs. Cordial has been entering state fair baking contests.  Preparation begins in July.

I had an 18 cubic foot freezer filled with nothing but entries, she said.  A neighbor, Mrs. Calvin Cole, delivered the winning cobbler yesterday morning for the busy baker.  Entries could be baked in advance.  Her mother, Mrs. Stewart DePoy, also of Powell, watches the children. Marilyn, her oldest daughter, even helps during fair time by assisting with family meals…”
